Patient perspective on Kallmann syndrome.
I recently gave a talk at a meeting of paediatric endocrinologists. I gave an overview of my experience as a patient with Kallmann syndrome.
I also talked about the possible option of using gonadotropin therapy instead of testosterone therapy to younger male patients as this can help with future fertility treatments and help with body image and confidence as it gives a more natural looking puberty.
Patients with Kallmann syndrome / congenital hypogonadotropic hypogonadism miss out on the hormonal surge normally found just after birth. This can affect the devlepoment of the physcial secondary sexual characteristics and affect fertility chances later in life.
