Hypogonadism itself is a common condition, especially in older men.

The hypogonadism found in KS / HH patients is not the same form as found in other patients.

It is important for doctors to determine the cause and type of hypogonadism to reach a diagnosis of KS / HH.

The testicles produce the bulk (but not all) of the testosterone in males.

The ovaries produce oestrogen and progesterone in females.

Patients with KS / HH will normally have a severe form of hypogonadism as they will have very little natural supply of either testosterone or oestrogen since the testicles / ovaries are not functioning correctly.
